After an absence of almost 8 months, we are returning to the airwaves! WESU listeners can once again tune in to Black Bread with Little Water and the Balkans and Beyond with Hadji Murat (formerly Move to the Beat with Ali Pasha and Sultan Mahmud).
This season, the shows will both occupy an alternating spot on Tuesday from 6:30-8:00 PM Eastern US Time. In the new format, the (musical) world will be divided into spheres of influence: Little Water will cover northeast Europe and Eurasia (the former Soviet Union) while Hadji Murat will take southeast Europe and Asia Minor (the former Ottoman Empire). Of course, neither of us believe that music should be valued or confined by geographical or cultural boundaries, so these regional definitions will serve more as starting points for further exploration rather than rigid limitations.
The first show will be this upcoming Tuesday, January 29. To get things started, we'll both be on the air picking music out of a mixed bag. Fun!
In the greater Middletown area you can listen at 88.1 FM. Outside CT you can stream live over the web from the WESU website. We will also be maintaining an archive of past shows here.
Thanks for your interest! Please check this site again for announcements about upcoming shows, playlists, guests, live performances etc.
